LOST

by Kysa Nygreen

composed at age 12 (?) and published in a school booklet of student writings...

Lost in a pile of toys I play,

laughing but not really glad.

Playing and singing and sharing not,

proud to be the envy but in my heart,

I am lost in a pile of toys.

Lost in a pile of jewels I dance,

shining and sparkling like the sun herself,

gracefully sweeping but somewhere within

I am lost in a pile of jewels.

From under my pile of brand new clothing

I look to the world to see what I've missed.

How lucky I am to have diamonds,

when everyone else can have only a kiss.

I have silver, emeralds and gold,

priceless treasures bought and sold,

given to me from God above.

They have nothing,

nothing at all!

Nothing but a worthless family

and love.
