Memories of Christmas

by Kysa Nygreen

composed at age 13 and published in a school booklet of student writings in 1989...

The glistening glow of the glittering green,
The flying flakes of white on the window screen.
An aroma of sweet trickling into the livingroom.
The soft low crackle of dancing flames in a brick tomb...

So many times like this I have lived through and still remember today.
So many others I hardly know, that I remember now a different way.
There are so many times that packed their bags and escaped from my memory yesterday.
So many times have passed me by I never would have known anyway.
Through the river of life there are so many things I have seen and people I've met.
So many memories mingle in my mind and so many more to come yet.
At times I have floated too quick on my little lifeboat past scenery that I have missed,
But the memories that I'll bare forever more are the warm memories of Christmas.
